DiDonato provided architectural and engineering design services for the largest Sonic to be built in the United States. The 4,000 SF restaurant includes indoor seating for 100, patio seating for 25, a drive-in area and a drive-thru facility. As the first Sonic in the WNY area, it also serves as a prototype for future, larger-scale Sonic locations.
Sonic had traditionally been located in warmer climates, so with expansion into colder climates, the new site features enclosed dining so guests can experience Sonic indoors seated at a table, as well as in their cars. The dining area is designed for year-round use, as it can be opened as a patio for guests to enjoy warmer weather.
